"The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win."
Roger Bannister
Winners never quit and quitters never win. This assertion is ever true. No matter how brilliant a student has been in class, failure to sit for exam means he’s never going to be graded or promoted. You can still achieve your set goals, only be more determined to succeed even when failure seems to be inevitable.
The successful people around us today that we envy and want to be like have had some stories of failures to tell before they eventually became successful. Experiences with failure are there to mold us as to the best way to begin again in a more intelligent and coordinated manner.
Have you tried several times to gain admission into the University without success, keep trying. Have you been making several efforts to please your spouse to no avail, keep trying. Have you tried repeatedly to get a good job without result, keep trying. Who knows? This attempt might be the last attempt that will open your door of success. Don’t quit as long as you still have breath in you. You’re closer to success than when you started. Don’t quit!
It’s possible to still experience failure after you’ve given it your best possible effort. Some people wrote professional exams for more than ten times before they became successful while some quit after experiencing failure only twice. One fact you must get clear is the fact that you’re not a failure until you stop trying. A loser today may end up becoming a winner tomorrow if he keeps on trying. Losers who stop trying remain so forever. Don’t be discouraged, you’re never a loser.
To really move ahead after you’ve experienced painful defeat or failure, you must shun detractors. They are there to encourage you to quit. Never give in to their advice and suggestions.
Are you considering quitting as an option? Then do the following.
• Resolve to give it your last possible best effort.
• Seek counsel from the right source for encouragement.
• Do away with those who encourage you to quit.
• Think success and not failure.
• Evaluate your past trials for possible reasons for failure.
• Develop a new success strategy.
• Give it all it takes.
This is your time to succeed. You must never quit at this level. You’re closer to success now than ever before. Yes, you are!

SEE IT IN YOUR OWN MIND
‘If you want to reach a goal, you must ‘see the reaching’ in your own mind before you actually arrive at your goal.’
ZIG ZIGLAR.
The you that you can see in your own mind may end up being the you that you will eventually become. Some people are in the habit of using their mind in the wrong way. They visualize themselves as poor, needy and sick. Anybody that will go far in life must make the best use of his mind. The things we visualize always have a way of becoming reality in the long run. Learn to use your mind profitably. See yourself as successful, influential and healthy.
To excel in life one must set goals, develop strategies to actualize the goals and above all put the strategies into action. The most important aspect of actualizing your goal is your ability to see the reaching of the goal in your mind. Until you can see it in your mind that your goal is indeed a possibility, you may not be able to give it all it takes to make it a reality. Not that a particular unseen hand is responsible for this process but that once your subconscious mind is convinced that you can, then your conscious mind will go into action to produce all the energy needed to make it a reality. Never underplay the place of your mind in reaching your goal.
The mind that is capable of thinking right is a mind that is fed with positive thoughts. Your mind has the capacity to give back to you in a more refined way, what you have been feeding it with, all these while. So feed your mind with possibilities. Feed your mind with positive thoughts. Feed your mind with encouraging thoughts. Feed your mind with good news. Feed your mind with message of hope and of a better future. It’s what you feed your mind with that you’ll get back.
The most efficient way to feed your mind with excellent and positive thoughts is through what you read, hear and see. Learn to watch and listen to motivational talks by men and women that love God and fear Him. Read books that are full of wisdom and encouragement. Do away with books and messages that encourage anger, bitterness, lust, aggression, war and revenge. Always entertain positive thoughts and discard evil thoughts.
One thing you must know for sure is that positive thoughts and actions are contagious. To remain positive and constantly use your mind rightly, you must cultivate the habit of encouraging people around you. Share the positive thoughts you learn from books, tapes and other sources with those who are discouraged. Practicing this constantly will automatically make you a die hard positive thinker. Learn to share positive and encouraging thoughts with others.
In conclusion, as this year is going to an end, begin to see your goals for the year ahead as becoming reality. Think possibility, think solution, think prosperity, think good health and think of a better year ahead.

IT’S TIME TO PLAN AHEAD
‘Today was once regarded as tomorrow, the same way this year was once regarded as next year. To have a better tomorrow and a great year, plan ahead.’
AUTHOR.
The year 2010 that started just like yesterday remain only a few weeks to go. Many people started the year with high hope. Some started it with wishful thoughts. But a few people began the year with a clearly written out goal plan. These few people constituted about 99% of those with worthwhile achievements to show for all their efforts in the year. To succeed in the year ahead, you have to join this group now and do what they did. They did what? They plan ahead for the year.
Planning ahead for next year is not a rocket science. It only requires a detailed conviction that you really have a burning desire to achieve certain goals during the year. These goals are therefore streamlined into basic tasks that are expected to be performed so as to make the goals achievable. The process of deciding in advance what to be done, how to do it, when to do it and the result expected is called planning.
One beautiful thing about planning is that it builds your confidence, makes you become more focused, increases your success awareness and gives you the impetus needed to go ahead when the going gets tough.
Your plan towards having a successful year 2011 could be based on your desire to achieve a worthwhile goal in the year which may include one or more of the following goal plans:
• Plan to get marry.
• Plan to own a car.
• Plan to be a better and more caring husband or wife.
• Plan to further your education.
• Plan to own a home.
• Plan to be more committed to God.
• Plan to get your dream job.
• Plan to start your own business.
.
Your plans must centred on what you intend to achieve in the year. New Year resolutions are good but they’re different from real plans, real plans are result oriented. Most New Year resolutions are just wishful thinking. While New Year resolutions die off after few weeks in the New Year, your detailed plan for the year, done well in advance, will keep you going.
To have a result oriented goal plan, do the following.
• Get a goal notebook with ‘my 2011 goal plan boldly written at the back’.
• List out what you intend to achieve in the year in the order of importance.
• Assign a due date or time to each goal.
• List out all tasks, resources and people needed to achieve each goal under it.
• Brainstorm on various alternatives available to you in achieving all your goals.
• Identify and select the best among the competing alternatives.
• Break down your goal plan into tasks to be performed on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Monitor your progress on a weekly and monthly basis.
Have you drawn up a goal plan for the year 2011? If you are yet to do so, you still have some days to go. Get down to business now. Don’t procrastinate. Take a notebook where you are now and begin to brainstorm on what you desire in the year 2011. Your goal plan must be clearly written out before the 31st of December, 2010. Turn your desires to your goal plan. Delay is dangerous, do it today.

IS THAT ACTION LEGAL?
‘No amount of profit is worth the worry of being caught doing something illegal.’
RICHARD BRANSON.
The challenges of life are so numerous that if one is not careful enough, one would have ventured into an illegal action or deal just to survive in this challenging world with little or no consideration for the implication of such a deal. Things are so difficult these days most especially in the developing world where vast majorities of the population live on less than one dollar a day. The level of poverty amidst plenty is better imagined in the developing countries, most especially in Africa. The conclusion drawn by a vast majority of the populace in this regard is that the high level of poverty is the key rationale behind the outrageous level of armed robbery, financial frauds, prostitution, oil bunkering, vandalism and kidnapping for ransom that is now a common place in some countries of the world.
One bitter truth about this scenario is the fact that these illegal actions do not pay in the long run. The reason being that the long hand of the law will sooner or later catch up with the people so involved. No matter your present level of affluence; if it was gotten illegally, you will one day be exposed and lose everything, either to the government or to the rightful owners. So it’s better to stay away from illegal deals.
Age cheat and lying under oath are some examples of illegal actions that seem less critical compared to rubbing at gun point, but the end result of them all could be a jail term, lost of reputation, lost of trust and lost of one’s source of livelihood. So stay away from any activity or actions that could tarnish your hard earn integrity. Stay away from such deals no matter how attractive.
The level of corporate fraud, document falsification, profit and stock manipulations in the corporate world all over the world is alarming and it has led to the demise of hitherto reputable corporate giants like Enron, WorldCom and Arthur Anderson. In Nigeria, the high level of corporate fraud, stock and profit manipulation has led to the sack and prosecution of some top bank CEOs. The former MD/CEO of Oceanic Bank International, Mrs. Cecilia Ibru was jailed when found guilty of a high level corporate fraud, running into several billions of naira. She was subsequently sentenced to a six months jail term. All her efforts, labour and activities in the corporate world thus ended shamefully. The several billions of naira worth of assets she acquired fraudulently were confiscated. Due to this singular shameful act, she can never again hold any political, social or corporate post in Nigeria forever, being an ex-convict. It pays to shun illegal actions. It pays in the long run. Of what value is your wealth when you lack integrity? Good name is better than ill gotten wealth.
In conclusion, be content with who you are and what you have. Maintain a life of integrity; be open and transparent in all your dealings. Sooner or later you’ll get to your desired destination. Shun illegal deals and activities, they may disguise as opportunities today but the end result is shame and regret.

YOU CAN WITH A STRONG DESIRE
When your desires are strong enough, you will appear to possess superhuman powers to achieve.
NAPOLEON HILL
The elementary principle of Economics in relation to human wants and needs emphasized that human wants are unlimited but the means to satisfy these wants are limited in supply. The needs and wants of men are so numerous that meeting all these needs may require more than all the combined wealth of all nations of the world.
Individuals, Nations and Corporate entities have various desires such as financial freedom, high per capital income and increased profitability respectively. All these desires are only achievable through having a very strong desire to achieve them. Having a desire without a strong will to make the desire a reality is equivalent to wishful thinking.
The good thing about having a strong desire is that it gives you a die hard attitude to pay the price for its actualization. A strong desire will motivates you to set goals, dream dreams, burn the midnight candles and refuse to give up in the face of adversity, failure, discouragement and disappointment.
The few successful individuals and organisations today are those with strong desire to succeed against all odds. Their possessions of a strong desire to succeed make them look extraordinary in terms of achievement and success compared to others whose desires to succeed are not strong enough. To succeed in life and make headway, you need to have a strong desire and a determination to succeed.
Until you remain committed to your goals, dreams and visions when all hopes seem to have been totally lost, your determination and desire to succeed may not be strong enough to earn you success on the long run. Have a strong will to actualize your dream like Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Edison. Both men failed repeatedly, never gave up, and at the end they made history by becoming American President and inventor of Electric Bulb respectively.
Your failure to reach your set goals before now might be as a result of your lack of a strong desire to pursue your goals and dreams in life. Be more determined, committed and resolute in your desire for a better tomorrow. Go and succeed.

NOW IS THE TIME TO BE HAPPY
Many people think that if they were only in some other place, or had some other job, they would be happy. Well, that is doubtful. So get as much happiness out of what you are doing as you can and don’t put off being happy until some future date.
Dale Carnegie.
A person’s state of happiness at a point in time determines his or her level of productivity and performance at that given point in time. Many people are unhappy today because they thought life is unfair to them. They see what they have, where they are and who they are, as far from being the best for them. We all know that good is the enemy of best, but it is better to accept and appreciates the ‘good’ we have presently than to keep crying over the ‘ best ’ we are yet to attain. Learn to be happy with what you have, where you are and who you are while not relenting on becoming the best you can be.
There are people who believe they are not making it in life due to their family background. Some attributed their failure in life to their country of origin, while others believe their undoing is their educational background. The truth of the matter is that some Secondary School Certificate holders may assume they are where they are because they are not graduates, while some graduates believe it takes a master’s degree to excel, while people with master’s degree assume the peak is to have a doctorate degree. When even somebody with a doctorate degree may also believe that it takes connection in high places to succeed. Instead of thinking happiness can only be gotten when you’ve gotten to a certain position or level in life, while not be happy with your present position and at the same time continue to work towards reaching your desired level or position.
Majority of youths that are ripe enough for marriage today, both men and women often believe erroneously that happiness can only come when they are married, forgetting that marriage also come with its own responsibility and challenges. Some people are not happy working under someone else believing that happiness can only come when they own their personal businesses forgetting that no matter your present position challenges are inevitable. So be happy with your present position, job, and position while still hoping for the best. Only this can bring out the best in you.
No matter who you are, where you are and what you do, until you are happy doing what you do, your level of performance is bound to be below average. If you are not able to perform optimally due to your thinking that what you are doing presently doesn’t make you feel happy, then you are laying a legacy of mediocrity that could mar your future performance even in your assumed dream job or position that you thought would guaranteed you happiness.
The only way out of this happiness seeking syndrome is to be happy doing what you are doing, while doing it, all the times.
Never assume that you are only going to be happy when you are married, have a well paying job, own your own business or when you start to do what you think you love doing. Peak performance is only possible when you do all that you do with all your might. And the only thing that can guarantee you an upward elevation to your desired higher position is peak performance. Unless you are happy doing what you are doing at hand forget peak performance.
To excel in life the secret is: Get as much happiness out of what you are doing as you can and don’t put off being happy until some future date.

SELF CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY
“If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started”.
Marcus Garvey.
The wish of every man is to succeed in whatever he or she does. Be it business or any other human endeavors. The question is: Why are some people failing and others succeeding despite having a similar goal of success? The reason for this is self confidence or lack of it.
You can succeed in almost anything you lay your hands on provided you are confident of yourself. Self confidence assures you that you are as good as others or that you’re even better than some people. It gives you the needed impetus to try your best and leave the rest. It boosts your confidence even after failing repeatedly that you have all it takes to make it in your next attempt.
Lack of self confidence is the shortest route to failure. It explains why some job applicants fail repeatedly to get hired simply because they were unnecessarily nervous during job interviews due to lack of self confidence. Lack of self confidence will force you to accept failure, even before you’re pronounced a failure. It makes you feel so little in the presence of others. It assures you never to try because failure is inevitable. It tends to discourage you from speaking up when you really need to speak out.
To succeed in life you need to believe in yourself. Self confidence is all about believing in yourself. You’re confident when you believe in your God given and inane ability. Lack of self confidence simply means you don’t believe in yourself or your inane or God given ability and talents.
Never worry, if before now, you don’t believe in yourself. There is hope for you. You can regain your confidence and be on your way to the next level. How can you achieve this? You can achieve this by following my suggested strategies listed below.
Self Confidence Building Strategies
▪ Develop and improve your skills, knowledge and attitude.
▪Continuous learning, unlearning and relearning.
▪Identify your strengths and weaknesses.
▪Prepare so well for all assignments.
▪Read motivational materials.
▪Learn to speak in public gradually.
▪Develop ‘can do’ attitude and spirit.
▪See others as human with feelings and emotion.
▪Ask questions when in doubt.
▪See yourself as success and not as failure.
▪Dress well and always look good.
▪Motivate yourself daily by saying to yourself aloud: I’m a star.
▪Seek advice and counsel from someone you trust and respect.
Please note that self confidence is different from being rude or overconfidence. It simply means having the assurance that you have all it takes to excel.

Determination can get you there faster
"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination."
Tommy Lasorda
We all have a goal, an aim, a task or a mission to be accomplished. Our ability to achieve our set goals depends on our determination. A resolute pursuit of our goal while giving no room for failure or excuse is what determination is all about. If you are a determined person you would believe that what others see as impossibility is actually possible.
You can still achieve that your long time forgotten goal and aspiration, but on one condition, a resolute determination to make it a reality. Are you dreaming of becoming a chartered Accountant? Then go ahead and pursue your dream. Are thinking of becoming a university graduate after dropping out of school years ago? It’s possible. Go ahead. Only be ready to pay the price. You can be whatever you’ve determined to be.
The number one enemy of us reaching our goal is fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of death and fear of defeat. One truth about fear is that only action can cure our fear. Fear will continue to overpower you until you take a decisive step. To overcome fear, you must begin to do whatever you know can take you to your desired destination. Are you thinking of going into a new profession but you’re afraid, thinking you may not be able to pass the qualifying exams. Go ahead and obtain the necessary forms. You can!
Here are the ways you can make your determination work for you:
Know what you want.
Set a goal towards achieving it.
Have a working plan.
Go the extra mile-give it all it takes.
Seek counsel.
Get a role model.
Learn from past mistakes and failures.
Be open to opportunities.
Don’t give in to discouragement.
Tap into motivational materials.

FOUR THINGS FOR SUCCESS
Four things for success: work, pray, think and believe.
Norman Vincent Peale
The desire of every man on earth is to be successful in whatever he or she venture into. Success means different things to different people. To a student expecting the result of a major examination success to him is all about coming out in flying colour. To a barren woman success means becoming a mother and carrying her own baby. To a businessman success could mean getting a mouthwatering major contract. Success in general is all about having something tangible to show for one’s effort and labour.
The easiest way to succeed in life is to follow the four things for success, suggested by late Norman Vincent Peale. If you can make the best use of them; failure will have no place in your life. The four things for success are:
• Work
• Pray
• Think
• Believe
We shall be taking each of the four things for success one after the other so as to help you have a clear understanding of them all and thus make the best use of them.
Work
To work is to do something with your hand, brain, talent and ability. This has to do with being engaged in something legitimate so as to benefit others and earn a living from such an effort or engagement. To work is to engage in a trade or an activity in order to earn a living. To be successful you must not fold your arms; you must do something. Even if you have a disability, there are one or two things you can do to earn a living for yourself and not depend on others.
Are you jobless presently? Just try and lay your hands on something for a start. You could be underemployed at the beginning but sooner or later you’ll get your dream job. Never fold your arms doing nothing. God had promised to bless the work of your hands; if you have nothing doing, what would God bless.
Pray
Prayer is the most effective weapon needed to bring the desired turnaround in the life of all believers. To pray is to ask God to be involved in one’s situation. The bible enjoined us to ask, seek and knock so as to receive, find and experience openings respectively. The Bible told us that what is impossible with man is possible with God.
No power can withstand the power of effective prayer. Is your case that of serial failures? Then ask God to turn your failures to success.
Think
To think is to use your imaginative power. Think possibility and you will experience possibility. Think failure and you will experience failure. Think success and you will succeed. What you think is possible will be possible. Never think failure unless you’ve resolved to fail by all means.
Believe
Believe is all about being convinced that what you have prayed about, think about and work on, will automatically become a reality. The injunction of the Bible is that all things are possible to him that believes. Believe you’ll succeed and it will come to pass. Believe you’re a failure and you’ll end up a failure.
The secret of success is making the best use of all the four things for success that we have highlighted above. Therefore if you want to succeed be ready to work hard, pray hard, think positive and believe you can succeed. Go and succeed.

BE THANKFUL FOR TODAY
‘Give thanks for what you are now, and keep fighting for what you want to be tomorrow’.
FERNANDA MIRAMONTES-LANDEROS.
Take it or leave it, no matter what you may be passing through presently, you are far better than somebody somewhere, now. This is a statement of fact.
Your present problem could be just about anything. It could be about a long time unemployment, a terminal sickness, mounting unpaid loans, imminent disaster , sad news from home, sudden death of someone dear to you , failure in a major examination, unexpected job loss, failed marriage and so on. Though what you’re passing through may be painful, yet be thankful.
Here are ten reasons you must be thankful for today.
There’s hope of a better tomorrow.
You have breath in you, some are dead.
Your experience today would someday become history.
When there’s life there’s hope.
Being thankful prolong your life.
It attracts others to you.
It helps you to get over your stress on time.
It remains the best option to keep you going.
It brings inner peace.
You’re better than someone somewhere.
Therefore be thankful for who you are, what you have and where you are while working hard to be the best you can be.

THERE’S HOPE
Don't be discouraged. It's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock. ~Author
Unknown
That things are not working out for you the way they should at present is not enough an excuse to conclude that you’re a failure. That you’ve been jobless all these while when most of your friends are doing very well in their various endeavors is not enough for you to conclude that you’re born to suffer. Never, never, never lose hope. You’re bound to succeed until you lose hope.
One truth about life is that we all can’t achieve success following the same path or pattern in life. If one of your closest friends bought his first car at age 22 and you’re almost age 40 now and still could not afford to buy a bicycle doesn’t mean that you can’t be richer than such a friend by the time both of you clock 50. Never assume life is unfair to you when others are doing better than you’re doing at a particular point in time. This experience should only encourage you to work harder rather than result to self pity.
Anytime you’re discouraged and it seems there’s no more hope for you due to your present condition, please follow these strategies.
REFLECT ON YOUR PAST POSITIVE LIFE EXPERIENCES
No matter how ugly your present may be, I strongly believe that you have had some pleasant experiences in the past. Reflect on them. Are you jobless presently? Reflect on your positive school experiences, sound health and your wonderful friends and family members.
UTILISE MOTIVATIONAL MATERIALS
This is the time for you to really tap into the words of encouragement emanating from motivational materials in the form of tapes, books, CD’s and DVD’s. These days we have so many books written by successful motivational speakers, get hold of any good one and digest it. Doing this would really boost your morale and give you hope of a better future.
SEEK COUNSEL
You don’t have to die in silence, seek counsel. The period when hope is almost gone is the period you have to confide in trustworthy counselors. Are you are Christian? Then confide in your Pastor. Are you a student? Confide in your course adviser or school counselor. You could also confide in your parents, spouse or trusted colleagues. Never die in silence, seek counsel.
BE OPTIMISTIC
The truth about what you’re passing through is that so many people had passed through similar situation and came out successfully. Never assume you’re alone. Be positive and optimistic. Confess positively to yourself that you’re not going to die in that situation. Even if you’re HIV positive at the moment you could be healed by miracle. Who knows cure for HIV/AIDS could be discovered tomorrow. Be positive. It’s not over until it’s over. Never ever consider suicide. That situation won’t see your end.
Please do know that you have a very bright future and all that you’re passing through presently are just to give you true life experiences needed to impact and mentor others that are likely to be faced with similar challenges in the future. Say aloud: There’s hope for me.

HANDLING UNEMPLOYMENT
‘It’s not what happens to you that determines how far you will go in life; it is how you handle what
happens to you.’
…..Zig Ziglar
The period of unemployment is a very critical period in the life of whosoever is unemployed. An individual is unemployed when he or she is unable to be gainfully employed for a job he or she has been trained to do or has the skill, knowledge and capability to do effectively and efficiently.
This period could be a very difficult period depending on your age, educational background, circumstances and position. For somebody who is still living with the parents, the challenge may not be intense since parents are still responsible for meeting the basic needs of such an individual. But for a married individual whose spouse does not earn enough to take care of the home front by meeting the needs for food, shelter, school fees, clothing and utility bills, being unemployed to such a person is like living in hell. When the bread winner of a family suddenly become unemployed, such a family is bound to face difficulties, most especially in developing economies like Nigeria , where no provision exists for unemployment benefits.
In some developing countries like Nigeria, a university graduate could remain unemployed for a period of ten years. Unemployment is a serious and a global issue. The developed economies of Europe and United States are presently having their own share of large scale unemployment due to the current global economic meltdown.
We are looking at how this unemployment problem can be tackled using a personal or individual approach rather than using a national or global approach. The suggested approaches are detailed below.
BE POSITIVE
That anything that has a beginning must surely have an end is a statement of fact. There are cases of people who committed suicide while passing through the stress of unemployment. Cases of unemployment induced suicide abound in many countries of the world. This experience is always aggravated by thought of hopelessness. The first thing you should know about being unemployed no matter your age, educational attainment and status is that being unemployed is not the end of life. Whether you’re a fresh graduate or an experienced worker, be positive. Assure yourself by telling yourself repeatedly that a better offer is on the way. The benefit of remaining positive is that it makes you think less and remain open to opportunities.
DO SOMETHING
The period of unemployment is not a period to be idle. No, never be idle. It’s a period you must find something doing, even if for free. You could offer yourself up for volunteering work. You could reflect on your past experiences and write excellent newspaper articles that could benefit others. You could offer to help do some cleaning job in your community for free.
As an unemployed career person you could walk up to a nearby school and offer to give the student a career talk. Also as an unemployed fresh graduate you could organize extramural classes for students preparing for internal and external exams in your neighborhood for free or at a reduced fee. Who knows your might be attracting some high placed parent’s attention through all these activities. This is a period you must never be idle. Think of something you could do to affect live, then do it.
OPEN UP
This is a period you must never be a pretender. Let people know what you can do and what you are passing through. Some people are retrenched or made redundant due to their organization’s dwindling fortunes but they won’t tell close associates who could be of help. You are the architect of your own misfortune by not opening up. Never die in silence, open up. This is not the same as telling every Dick, Jack and Harry about it. Only confides in few close confidants.
Some people even kept it from their spouses and continue to pretend to go to work on a daily basis believing that the experience is shameful and should be kept as a top secret. No, never kept your spouse in the dark. Learn to open up.
LEVERAGE ON YOUR EXISTING NETWORK
This is a time you have to go back to the drawing board by leveraging on your existing contacts. Put calls across to your old school friends; use your alumni network to connect people. Call friends that are doing well in other industries. This is the time you must be regular at your Professional association’s meetings. Be regular at these gatherings and make superb contribution to interesting intellectual discuss. Be relevant. Show off your stuff. This will attracts the attention of most colleagues who could be of help.
Always be in constant contact with colleagues who are currently working to find out about possible job openings in their company or industry.
ADD VALUE TO YOURSELF
This is a time you really have all the times in this world. Learn new things. You could learn to play a musical instrument. You could learn about web designing. This period must be used to gain knowledge. Read more books in your chosen field; develop your writing and oral communication skills. Do research on how to pass job aptitude tests and interviews, most especially if you are a fresh graduate. Go back to your MBA reading materials and digest them for knowledge as against reading to defend a term paper or to pass exams. You must set aside a minimum of one hour each day to develop your skill, knowledge and capability in your chosen field of study.
Adding value to yourself through diligent study and learning new things if taken with all seriousness will make you sound like an authority in your next job interview.
WATCH OUT FOR OPPORTUNITIES
Never close your ears and eyes to happenings around you. Be inquisitive and be on the look out for opportunities. Opportunities that could make you a job creator rather than a job seeker could present itself.
The period of unemployment is never a period to see yourself as having little or nothing to offer. This should be a period to reflect on your God given ability by believing in yourself and be confident that you have all it takes to get an even better job than the one you have lost. Are you a fresh graduate and presently unemployed? Keep trying, you’re almost there.

ACTUALIZE YOUR DREAM
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”.....W.H. MURRAY.
So many people came into this world, dreamt great dreams but never live to see their dreams become a reality. The number one reason for this misfortune is excuse: I can’t do it alone. I don’t know anybody. I am too young or too old. People won’t buy into it. It’s better to start and fail than to do nothing about your dream. If you’ve got a dream; start making it a reality.
Your dream could be about just anything. It could be about starting a new business. It could be about a change of career. It could be about moving into a new market, product or service line. All your desired goals are dream and may end up as a mere dream until you do something about them. One thing with most dreams is that the more one delays their actualization; the more one tends to believe that such dreams are not achievable or realistic. Stop procrastinating, do something about your dream of a better tomorrow.
There are various ways of handling the realization of your dream. I’ll be sharing with you five ways of making your dream a reality.
Document Your Dream
The starting point in actualizing your dream is in putting it down in black and white. A dream left in one’s brain is like a castle built in the air. Get a special note for documenting you dreams or visions as they come to your mind. You could also type and save it on your computer. The greatest undoing of your dream is the failure to put it in black and white.
Test Your Dream
Some dreams are just unrealistic, but before concluding that a particular dream is not realizable, please test it. There are many ways of testing your dreams. This could be done through research, facts verification and through the determination of the legality of such a dream. Ask questions from experts, friends and others about the feasibility of such a dream. Always test the viability of your dream.
Picture Its Actualization
To achieve your dream you must have a picture of it in your subconscious mind. If you can see it, you can actualize it. A dream you can’t picture into existence, you can’t achieve. Begin to see the dream as becoming a reality. Are you dreaming of landing a job in a particular large organisation? Then see yourself as being there already.
Take Action
Nobody on earth achieve anything worthwhile by mare wishing. Do something about your dream, take action. Take actions daily that can draw you closer to your dream and aspirations in life. Do you desire to be a Chartered Accountant? Then obtain the necessary forms and start the process. Don’t just sit down wishing, do something.
Are you dreaming of becoming a business owner? Then start thinking about your business of interest. Begin to gather information about the business that interests you. Start thinking of drafting a business plan and a feasibility study. Stop wishing, take action.
Launch Out
Until your dream becomes a reality, you are yet to be there. To launch out is to make your dream become a reality. Are you dreaming of starting your own business? Don’t stop at writing a winning business plan and a feasibility study. Go ahead and incorporate that business. So many business plans are under so many peoples bed. Never allow your dream to die just like that. Document it, test it, picture it, take action on it and launch out.

POSITIVE THINKING WORKS WONDER
